"Seek Out Love and Embrace Differences": Brian Toomey, MSW '80, the 2012 School of Social Work Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, shares with fellow alumni, students, faculty, and staff the key lessons he has learned as a social worker.
Brian was selected as the award recipient in recognition of his 30+ years of leadership, achieving positive results on behalf of low-income, chronically ill, and disabled populations. Throughout much of his career, Brian has been at the helm, developing and managing community health care systems to meet unmet community needs. A tireless advocate, he works with political and community coalitions and volunteers on State and National Boards. His thoughtfulness as a colleague, friend, and family member make him loved by many. His integrity and intelligence make him respected by all.
Brian accepted his distinguished alumni award on January 13, 2012, at this year's Boston College School of Social Work Spirituality Conference and Alumni Event.
