Today we are going to be taking a look at Part Number MCL55AB. This is the Optronics Round LED Amber Trailer Clearance or Side Marker Light. It is going to feature a nice sealed, waterproof design. It is going to have the amber lens. The lens and the base are going to be made from a poly-carbonate material so they are going to be very strong and durable. This unit is going to contain three LED's so it is going to have the multi diode design which when hooked up to power, is really going to optimize our light output. LED's are going to be great replacements for incandescent lights.

They are going to last longer. They are going to burn a lot brighter and they are going to be much more efficient. You also don't have to worry about replacing the bulbs and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. See here on the back side, it has got a two prong connection. This is designed to accept your industry standard two prong plug, making it very simple to upgrade from an incandescent light design or incandescent light system. In order to get this mounted, it does require a mounting grommet or a mounting bracket as well as the plug, for a complete installation.

Those items are sold separately. They can be found and picked up here on our website. If we take a look at the overall dimensions, it is going to give us a diameter of about 2 inches. The overall depth including the plug at the back is going to measure about 1 inch deep. If we just take a measurement of the depth of the lens, we are looking at about 3/4 of inch. This light is going to draw 0.06 amps at 12.8 volts and Optronics is going to put a lifetime warranty on the LED's.

We are going to go ahead and hook it up to our external power source. That way, you can see what it looks like with power running to it. We are simply just going to make our connection here at the back, push the plug all the way in until it gets seeded well up against the base. It is going to create a nice, tight seal. This is what the light looks like with power running to it and with our lights turned off. The multi diode design is really going to optimize our light output so it is going to send a pretty consistent, strong LED signal.
