Guatemalan Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchu said on Wednesday that United Nations should condemn the harsh rhetoric used by US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump against migrants and minorities.
Speaking at an event inaugurating "Let's Respect," a campaign to end violence against women in Mexico, Menchu blasted Trump and characterised his rhetoric as "contemporary fascism."
During the news conference, Menchu said she didn't know the real estate mogul and most likely would never meet him, but she expressed her solidarity with US citizens who did not agree with Trump's positions.
Menchu, a member of the Quiche ethnic group, received the 1992 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her work for peace during Guatemala's civil war, particularly on behalf of indigenous people
