We recently acquired these Japanese Style knives for our kitchen, and I decided to make a knife block. This will clear up some drawer space as well as dedicate a spot for our new knives to live. Because our countertop space is limited, this was the design I choose for our needs. The knife block will also sit underneath a cabinet which only allows for 18" of clearance between the countertop and bottom of the cabinet. So making this "open" design for the knives to be put away was ideal.
