Crown flower is a milkweed that is host to the monarch. Calotropis gigantea is a giant milkweed that flowers in two colors. White (alba) and the more common color purple. Crown flower is a perennial in USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 10-13. Most coastal areas of Hawaii are suitable for growing Calotropis gigantea. While visiting Kauai I observed Calotropis gigantea alba for sale at Kauai Seascapes Nursery [ Ссылка ] There is also a nice grouping of crown flower in downtown Waimea. The last and biggest group of 21 crown flower are on the Puakea Golf Course. Although my vacation came to an end I cant help but wondering how many more crown flower plants are growing in Hawaii.
