Health departments continue to seek strategies to improve the productivity and yield of testing and linkage programs, to implement and expand access to testing for HIV and hepatitis C virus (HCV), and to optimize public health resources. This webinar featured Monica Parker from New York State Department of Health’s Wadsworth Center Laboratory, S. Berry Bennett from Florida Bureau of Public Health Laboratories, and Anne Gaynor from the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) and provided a discussion on currently available HIV and HCV testing technologies. Both laboratory-based and point-of-care tests were addressed, as will emerging test technologies, including point-of-care viral load tests. As integration of HIV and HCV testing is increasingly prioritized by health departments, strategies and resources to support integration are critical and were discussed.
