In this video, we take a short look into the life of Madame du Barry, the last maîtresse-en-titre of King Louis XV.
A very controversial historical figure, Madame du Barry is well-known for her extravagance, which could not go unnoticed even in the midst of the French court. Patroness of the arts and a staple of the last decades of the monarchy, she spends a significant portion of her life in Versailles, where she eventually clashes with Marie Antoinette and the dauphin.
Her life comes to an end in the same way as Marie Antoinette's. Denounced by her former slave Zamor, Madame du Barry faces the guilloutine, as do many former aristocrats during the French Revolution.
