Icon One Thousand's Joker is a long length, neo-retro boot with a sprinkling of off-road heritage. This is a do it all motorcycle boot with a fusion of brawn and style that caters it perfectly to anyone from the urban commuter to the full on mile munching tourer.
For the outer Icon 1000 use their full grain leather to make it supple yet durable enough for the rigours of the road, combined with this are textile stretch panels to add that essential extra flexibility and comfort. Unlike many boots, the Joker actually uses a composite flat lasting board style sole. This is to give the boot rigidity but also improves pedal feel and rider feedback at the same time. Another underrated feature is the positioning of the full length YKK zipper, this runs the length of the rear with seam sealed aqua-guard zip keeping out moisture and pull tabs making it a breeze to slip on and off.
The Joker is waterproof to Icon's level 3 standard, meaning it is built from the ground up to withstand heavy rain and snow while retaining those breathable qualities that keep the rider comfortable. Icon have also worked closely with popular armour manufacturer D3O to come up with integrated armoured inserts that fit seamlessly into the boots design. Swinging a leg over your pride and joy can be a hazardous pursuit but with the vulnerable areas of your feet reinforced you know you are covered.
The Urban Rider team have put these boots through their paces on the London streets, competed in the Dirt Bike Cup at Bike Shed Fest and even hit the dust at Rye House Flat track circuit. They didn't let up an inch.
