In this video I scan a cast partial lower metal frame on a printed model to create the base and the teeth for a try-in appointment. The beauty of fabricating partial dentures is that all the scans are done in the mouth by using an intra oral scanner. I currently use a 3Shape Trios 4. With an intra oral scanner I can scan the lower jaw, the upper jaw and register the bite all in one appointment. Then the scans are sent to the lab using 3Shape's Communicate. All the information is there for the lab to fabricate the cast framework, and when it arrives back in the clinic I always check the fit.
