Natural farming methods which have sustained humanity for 10,000 years are still better than conventional methods. As we realize the damage our modern lifestyles have upon our environment, we seek solutions to reverse climate change and secure a healthy Earth for future generations. Organic farmers are stewards of the land and seek to protect the natural systems as well as create a healthy, sustainable food supply. As an accidental farmer, Chuck believes if more people raise their own food naturally, they will not only become healthier but also support their communities and natural surroundings. Chuck is the founder of Midori Farm, an organic farm operating in Shiga and Kyoto prefecture, Japan. He raises over 50 varieties of vegetables and sells them directly to customers without packaging. He makes his own compost using leaves from Kyoto shrines, coffee grounds from a Kyoto initiative, and from a community kitchen-waste collection program he started. He accepts volunteers and guests from Japan and around the world and is implementing an educational program in 2022 to inspire more people to discover the joys of organic farming. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
