In this video, I teach you exactly what and how to use "The Asking Hand" of Wing Chun to control a fighting situation.
The man sau (the asking hand) of Wing Chun is both a concept, action and strategy.
Used as a means of constantly pressuring to control an attacker's movements, the man sao's purpose is to keep them on the defensive. If they are busy defending, they don't have time to attack.
Very similar to controlling a conversation, the man sau is the inquisitive hand or the asking hand that is always in the face of the other person. This is how Wing Chun works... a constant ask.
Now you can ask with this hand or you can ask with this hand. You basically have two choices with the same question... are you gonna let me hit you? or.. are you going to let me get into your center. That is the constant question that's asked. Because their center is not their center. It is our center. It is the Wing Chun practitioners center.
Just know that when anyone that attacks us, we must think this way. You must think that you're about to dominate their center.
When learning what the Wing Chun asking hand is, you realize that Wing Chun is attack driven. You are the predator. They are the prey and you're just simply looking to eat your dinner. It is not
overly aggressive. It is not afraid. It is not greedy. None of these
things. It just simply is what it is. Because that's what the lion or the tiger is thinking about when they're looking to sink their teeth into their meal they're not aggressive. They're just really, really drawn to what they need. They're hungry. They're just hungry and that's exactly what we are hungry for.. the other person's center.
So this is the asking hand of Wing Chun and how to use it. It's either here or it's here. It can take the shape of a palm. It could even take the shape of another type of palm that we do. Sometimes it can be elbows.
But the bottom line is that we're constantly asking that question and if we control the conversation and we ask the question more precisely, more directly and more simply, then the other person can't get to us.
It's a matter of changing your mind into an attack driven predator (animal). That's what you're trying to do.
Now...
What if they go and they do something and they're about to hit you at the same time you're attacking them? Fine.
Then you're gonna flow to some other some other thing. Maybe that's another another angle over here or another angle over here. There's different angles that we take but it's still the same question over and over and over again...
Are you gonna let me hit you? Are you going to allow me to take your center.
Because again, your center is not yours... it's mine!
