A new law to “prevent, frustrate and punish” acts in Hong Kong that threaten national security would allow Beijing’s relevant national security organisations to set up agencies in Hong Kong to fulfill relevant duties.Speaking at the opening of the annual session of the National People’s Congress, Wang Chen, the NPC Standing Committee (NPCSC) vice-chairman, also confirmed that the law would proscribe secessionist and subversive activity as well as foreign interference and terrorism in the city.
