First phase of polling for Assam and West Bengal assembly elections ended today. Voting was held in a total of 77 seats — 47 in Assam and 30 in West Bengal——in the first phase of polling. Polling booths open at 7 am. Polling hours this time was extended due to the Covid pandemic.Till 6 pm, West Bengal recorded 79.79% voter turnout and Assam registered 72.14% turnout in the first phase of polling for the assembly elections.
