Planet Earth. I really want to keep it short and sweet this time. On that note, prepare for a novel.
As far as I'm concerned, this video is still quite unfinished, but I can't keep it to myself any more.
Anyone who has been even slightly following the progress of this sampler knows that it's been quite a ride. Guess when I began its development? The beginning of August 2012.
EIGHT MONTHS AGO.
Until January, I was putting in nearly constant work. Since then, I've been able to just LOOK at it maybe three times due to a college whirlwind. Something just snapped today. I didn't care what was imperfect about it anymore. At this point, I'm really frightened that there's been so much buildup that it won't live up to expectations. I had to GET IT RELEASED. And here we are.
Even though this is probably my best rendition of the video, I couldn't possibly EVER get it the way I want. I have around nine minutes of scrap clips from the video. The project file is filled with probably seven hours of clips that I've sifted through. Somehow I had to make a 'best of' from all of it. That's why it's taken so freaking long. I overhauled the beginning two minutes around sixty times. It's ripped my soul out, but I am finally somewhat content with the product.
As it is, I still am having OCD fits after seeing similar combos placed too close together. I am nothing short of a perfectionist, so releasing this was INCREDIBLY hard.
The quality of the video fluctuates throughout. This summer, my trusty camera broke for several months, and I had to use my phone's camera. So, I apologize for bouts of poor quality in low-ish light.
The clips in here range anywhere from mid spring 2012 to a couple of weeks ago. The majority of them come out of the latest months in 2012. It is a very full representation of my second year of tricking training. There are perhaps 40 new tricks and transitions in here, some that I'm VERY excited and/or surprised about. If I saw this video as a fledgling tricker two years ago, I would have maybe put myself at the four year mark. Tricking has graced me in so many ways, I can't even comprehend it. And I've only just begun.
Possibly the biggest milestone is my landing of and familiarity with double corks. I was beginning to think I could never land that trick, and then suddenly...easy. Now they're just a small factor in my training. This video is a landmark for a shift in my tricking career. I am no longer training for the main purpose of getting harder tricks. My next phase will be an intense journey toward style perfection. I want people to shout in pure shock when they see my tricks - no matter if it's a double full or a tornado to a hook kick. I want to be known for having one of the sickest styles in the game. I've discovered that, with my body type, I can't go for speed or power. That means I will be a master of control, sharpness, and cleanliness. This is the next step for me. I'm extremely excited to embark - it's already begun. I also want to delve into innovative combos and tricks.
I MAY release a second version of this sampler sometime. It would have an extended intro with more messages, and possibly a swapped combo or two. We'll see.
Now that this is finally, FINALLY out, I have many plans for videos. A scraps sampler from the aforementioned clips is possible. A winter sampler should be out quite soon (it will probably take 1/16 of the time this one did...lol). A crapton of other ideas are waiting to be acted upon, and they are now possible. Stay tuned.
I'M FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
