On this day exactly eleven years ago, 30 June 2010, Benigno Aquino III took the oath of office as the fifteen President of the Philippines. The inauguration took place at the Luneta before an estimated crowd of half-a-million people.
The raw footage shows an excerpt of President Aquino's inaugural address as the massive crowd saw it then --- on large screens set up all over the grounds of the Quirino Grandstand. It was hot and humid, but it was a great day for the people and a celebration of Philippine democracy.
As I was back then, I remain proud to have attended the inaugural ceremonies for a president who served the Filipino people with grace, dignity, and courage.
