When I was first learning how to crochet, my mom asked me to help her with a charity project - if she bought the yarn, would I make blankets and scarves? I agreed immediately, mostly because I didn't have money for yarn at the time. A year or so into this project, she asked if I could make hats. I hadn't learned how to work in the round yet, so I said no... but then we saw these round looms at Michaels one day, with the picture of a winter hat on the front of the packaging. Mom asked if I'd like to learn how to make hats on the looms, and I said yes! That year, sure enough, Santa left a set of round looms under the tree. That was back in the late 90's. I've made at least 1000 hats just like the one in this video, where I hope I describe how to do so well enough, for you to make as many hats as you would like!
This hat ended up using 71.4 yards of Paton's Melody yarn. In my experience, you'll want to make sure you have at least 60 yards of whatever yarn you're using.
