For some children and youth living with #epilepsy, #brainsurgery may be a potential option for #seizurecontrol.

The Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery #webinar​, titled #EpilepsySurgery in Children and Youth: The Benefits of Early #Surgery, focuses on the types of epilepsy surgery performed in the pediatric population; the evaluation for epilepsy surgery; and the evidence that early surgery is associated with improved outcomes.

About the Speaker: Dr. Mary Connolly MB, BCh, BAO, FRCP(C), FRCP(I), FRCP(Edin) is a Clinical Professor of #Pediatrics (#Neurology) at the #UniversityofBritishColumbia (#UBC), Head of #PediatricNeurology, Director of The Comprehensive Epilepsy Program and a Clinician Investigator at #BCChildrensHopsital (#BCCH). She graduated in medicine from Trinity College Dublin and completed residency in #internalmedicine and pediatrics in Ireland. She trained in pediatric neurology and epilepsy at UBC followed by an epilepsy fellowship at The Children’s Hospital, Boston/Harvard Medical School. Her clinical and research interests include outcomes following epilepsy surgery in children, #TuberousSclerosisComplex and #DravetSyndrome. Other interests include #telehealth to improve access to epilepsy care in BC and integration of next generation genetic testing to improve neurologic outcomes in children with epilepsy. She was Co-Chair of the #CanadianPediatricEpilepsyNetwork from 2013 to 2017 and is past President of the #CanadianAssociationofChild Neurologists. She received the inaugural Clinical Practice and Advocacy Award from the #CanadianLeagueAgainstEpilepsy (#CLAE). She is President Elect of the CLAE.
