How to program a Toyota key fob
Programming a keyless remote transmitter on a Toyota / Lexus vehicle with factory installed keyless entry and alarm.
This procedure should work on Toyota's made in the late 90's to the early 2000's, such as the Toyota Solara, Camry, Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia, Sienna, Highlander and Avalon.
This procedure will not work on vehicles with a dealer installed remote, i.e. with a service button / LED on the driver side of the dash-board, such as those with the RS3000 / RS3200 system.
Programming the remote involves cycling the locks and ignition. If the vehicle does not enter programming mode or the locks fail to cycle, it could be a worn lock actuator. Try cycling the locks manually instead of using the power lock button switch on the door.
Toyota Sienna, Sequoia, & Tacoma remote programming instructions. The dealership will charge a lot to program a keyless remote; you can do it easily and save big money. Buy a the keyless entry remote key:
This works for Toyota vehicles that use a keyless remote model: GQ43VT20T.
Please leave comments on the make/model and year of vehicle that you used it on so others know that it works. I"m told the following are compatible - if you find one that doesn't work, please comment so I can note in the list
Toyota Sequoia: 2008 2009
Toyota Sienna: 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009
Toyota Tacoma: 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009
*** 2010+ model years require dealer programming (lock shops can probably do for less money). Also, I'm told that all Toyota Tundra & Highlanders require dealer programming for the keyless fob clicker remote.
