Treatment for Chlamydia depends on the extent of infection, if infection is predominantly in the lower genital track like the urethra in male and cervix in females. There are oral antibiotics used like tetracycline, quinocyline have been recommended, but if there is an infection in the upper genital tract which is more common in female and has resulted in pelvic inflammatory disease this requires more aggressive management and sometimes requires use of intravenous antibiotics with admission to hospital.
