(8 Mar 2018) Hundreds of people gathered in Karachi, Pakistan on Thursday to celebrate International Women's Day and call for an end to violence against women.
Some participants held placards reading "Stop Killing Women" or other slogans demanding equal rights, better employment opportunities and social equality.
Others were in a more festive mood and sang and danced to celebrate the occasion.
"We marked today as the day of resistance, to all we have seen that is happening in Pakistan, especially against women; the violence that we see every day against women," said Shima Kirman, a classical dancer who attended the gathering.
Several other similar events have taken place across Pakistan.
