Pickled Fish is a famous South African dish. This dish is full of flavor and it is prepared 2 to 3 days ahead.
Ingredients:
2 kg firm hake fillet
1 cup flour
salt and pepper
oil for shallow frying
curry sauce
1 cup water
3cups white grape vinegar
1 cup sugar
1 Tbs turmeric
1 Tbs cumin
2 Tbs curry powder
1 tsp grated optional
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbs pepper corns
5 sliced onion rings
3 bay leaves
1/2 cup sultanas
method
fish
lightly coat hake in flour seasoned with salt and pepper
shallow fry your fish and lightly brown both sides until cooked through.
Curry sauce
Add water, vinegar, sugar, sultanas, all the remaining ingredients and onions. cover your pot on medium heat and cook for 10+ until your sauce is reduced.
put your Fish in a dish and cover it with the onions and sauce. Leave it in the fridge for 2-3days before you can eat it.
