1. Shallots - 10 numbers
2. Garlic - 14 cloves
3. Black peppercorns - 1 1/2 tbsp
4. Cumin seeds - 2 tsp
Crush all these together.
1. Tamarind - 20 gm
2. Water
Soak tamarind in water.
Squeeze it with hands & mix well in the water.
Combine them well & strain out the solution.
3. Add crushed mixture into this tamarind water.
4. Red chilli powder - 3/4 tbsp
5. Coriander powder - 3/4 tbsp
6. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
7. Tomato - 1
8. Curry leaves - few
9. Salt - 2 tsp (adjust as required)
10. Asafoetida powder - 1 tsp
Switch on the flame. Give it a mix. Cover it with a lid & let it boil.
When it boils, add
11. Coriander leaves - few
12. Curry leaves - few
Keep it aside.
Seasoning:
1. Oil - 2 tbsp
2. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
3. Dry red chilli -3
4. Shallot - 1 tbsp chopped
5. Curry leaves - few
Add it to the rasam. Give it a mix.
