The Tongariro Roll Cast is a super effective single handed spey technique for covering big water using heavy bombs in areas that have little to no back cast. It also has a reputation for being a complex beast to tame! It's steeped in history and having been through many instructional hands over the years finally the info has trickled down to Kyle Adams of Hunting & Fishing New Zealand, Taranaki who has spent lots of river time getting the cast dialled. We've teamed up with Kyle to put together a basic overview for you so you can get a feel for the stages of the cast and hopefully make something that looks complicated, easy to understand and execute.
