No cleaning yet; just taking a look at the growth after 7 days in a test saltwater tank. Since the HOG1.3 is lower power with just two LEDs, it's starts easier without the need to shade the lights like you might need to do with the HOG2, and certainly like you would need to do with the HOG3.
Reminder: This example HOG1.3 unit is only using a few of the magnets instead of all of them that are on the units you would purchase, because this test tank is thin glass.
This HOG1.3 Scrubber attaches to your aquarium or sump wall in just a few seconds. It has 30 square inches (187 square cm) of one-sided algal growth surface, which once growing is designed to absorb the nutrients from this much feeding per day:
1.3 Frozen cubes, or
13 Pinches of flake, or
13 Square inches (90 square cm) of nori, or
3.6 grams of pellets
It is designed for aquariums which do not have algae problems, and you want to keep it this way.
