I have had an old crossbow in my shop for several years, a gift from my late grandpa. Up until recently I wasn't sure if it was a one off design or made from a plan. I got my answer when I stumbled across the exact plans on vintageprojects.com. It turns out Popular Mechanics published the article in June, 1944. Cool stuff!
