Ivo Spalatin found everything he needed for his martinis at the liquor store with one exception.
"I have to go to another store to buy my olives," said Spalatin.
That changes Tuesday at least for Red Dog Wine and Spirits where Spalatin was shopping.
The liquor store is one of many in Tennessee taking advantage of new laws that allow liquor stores to sell not just olives but food and even regular strength beer.
Owner Bard Quillman says it's hard to know how the change will affect his business because there's a catch to all the new stuff he's selling.
Liquor stores gained the right to sell beer and food during the agreement to give grocers the ability to sell wine in 2016 if approved by a referendum.
That could potentially include the Publix next to Quillman's store.
"What our objective is for the next year or so is to try to figure out what our customers want," said Quillman.
Quillman spent tens of thousands redesigning his store to sell food and beer to make up for the revenue he'll lose if Publix someday sells wine.
Some liquor stores, including Sinkers and Weiss Liquors in East Nashville aren't making any changes just yet.
Martin Bubis with Main Street Liquor is planning to sell beer.
Bubis consolidated the wine in the front of his store to make room for beer and soda.
"Look at it as just joining the 21st century in the alcohol business," said Bubis.
