Dr. Joe says that the best time of day to do this is between 3am and 5am as this is when the highest level of melatonin can be found in the pineal gland...but honestly, in my busy life, i meditate whenever i have time. I suggest the same for you.
Ok here goes.
Before you begin you may want to do one or all of the following:
Go to the washroom
Purge your thoughts onto paper or a journal - keep random thoughts and worries at bay
Stretch the muscles that may distract you..with tension
Have a sip of water
Ok.. sit with your back straight. A nice straight spine.
Hello my positive peeps. This is Lori, your positivity princess. I have faith that you are having a wonderful day. Let's take a deep belly breath together to get grounded before we get started.
This method of breathing is used in order to open the heart and achieve mind and body coherences.
While doing this i want you to visualize or imagine drawing energy from your lower chakras all the way up to your brain, and more specifically to your third eye and the pineal gland.
I want to keep this in mind.
You have 7 chakras. These are energy centres of the body. Energy travels through each and works its way through the body. The chakras are as follows:
At your tail bone is your root chakra,
Then your sacral chakra below the belly button
You solar plexus is just above the belly button.
Then the heart chakra, the throat chakra, the third eye chakra and then the crown chakra .
You will
Tighten muscles in this order as you sense pulling your energy up and through these areas
The first contraction is the perineum front and back, which are the muscles that you use when going to the washroom and eliminating waste from your body, or even when you hold it in.This starts phishing cerebral spinal fluid upward.
Next, pull your belly button into your spine
Then flex the rest of the muscles below you rib cage and above your buttocks and hips- to sense these stand close to a wall then lean toward it until you feel the loss of balance. The muscles you feel engaging to keep you from using the wall to stay upright are the ones to tighten.
When you totally expel all of the air from your lungs some of these muscles are already engaged, but you can still try to tighten them more.
Remember NOt to do what is called PURPLE PUSHING. You are not trying to explode your head. The motion of the sacrum bone tilting on the inhale and relaxing on the exhale is what causes the cerebral spinal fluid to build pressure, then it releases on the exhale.
Ok let's try it right now together.
Pause the video and press play when you are in the correct seated position.
Ok. We will take 3 nice deep belly breaths together.
Breath in for 4 seconds. Hold for 4, breathe out for 4 and hold for 4.
Again
Again.
Ok now as you breath in, flex the perineal muscles and visualize the energy moving up,
Flex the belly button to the spine,
Flex the abdominal and diaphragm
And see the energy moving up through the heart, the throat and into the pineal gland.
Onesies our inhale is done and the lungs are full. Squeeze the muscles contracted just a little more. Be gentle...hold for 3 seconds...now exhale and let go of the muscles…
Look with your mind’s eye toward the third eye.
Feel all the gratitude and love in your heart.
Keep repeating this.
You can do this at the end of every meditation
Or at the beginning or you can do this weekly.
You will get better at this and the steps will become automatic.
