Irazu is Costa Rica's largest active volcano and it's a must-visit for nature lovers and adventure seekers! In this video, I'll share how I got there, what to expect, and tips for making the most of your visit. This is a must-see destination for any adventure seekers or nature lovers visiting Costa Rica!
Irazú Volcano is situated in the Cordillera Central close to the city of Cartago. The volcano’s summit has several craters, one of which contains Diego de la Haya, a green crater lake of variable depth. At 11,260 feet (3,432 m), the Irazú Volcano is the highest active volcano in Costa Rica.
On a clear day, you can see both the Atlantic and the Pacific ocean from the top point!!

How to get there:
By car:
From San Jose, take Florencio del Castillo highway until Taras de Cartago City, go Northside and take the road to Irazu Volcano, passing through communities Cot, Tierra Blanca, Potrero Cerrado and San Juan de Chicuá. The tour takes approximately one hour thirty minutes.
By bus:
From San Jose, service is provided every day at 8:00 am. The bus leaves from street 1-3 Avenue 2, in front of Hotel Costa Rica. This is the bus that I could not find but it is listed on the official website above. Maybe it wasn't running for some reason the days that I tried to go.
