Most tourists know about Chichen Itza and Tulum, but even many locals have no idea to Cancun is home to at least two significant archaeological zones that are hidden in plain sight. One - El Meco - is at in the Puerto Juarez section of Cancun's Centro, while the other - El Rey - is near the bottom of the Zona Hotelera, surrounded by modern luxury resorts. Both sites contain a large structural centerpiece as well as foundations and bases for buildings long gone. The latter are not included in this video and are best explained by guides who work at both sites. El Meco and El Rey are operated by INAH, a branch of the Mexican government devoted culture and history. 2022 prices for entry are $65 MXN for foreigners and $50 MXN for Mexican nationals.
