There are more children who have enrolled in schools in the 6-14 age group in the last 4 years. Which means, the dropouts that were seen after the pandemic due to Covid were temporary. But this also comes with a sobering reality that the ability of these children to read texts and solve basic arithmetic seems to be on the decline. For almost a decade till 2014, enrollment in government schools saw a declining trend. It stayed at that number for four more years with a slight increase in 2018. There was a notable jump in government school enrollment numbers in 2022 with 72.9% .
