President-elect Donald Trump and incoming first lady Melania Trump visited the U.S. Capitol Wednesday evening to pay their respects to former President Jimmy Carter.
Carter's casket is lying in state in the Capitol rotunda until Thursday, when his state funeral will take place at Washington National Cathedral. Every living U.S. president is set to attend the service, with President Joe Biden delivering a eulogy to the 39th president.
