The NFL's Chicago Bears have unveiled statues of two of their iconic figures.
The 12 foot high, 3,000 pound bronze statues of NFL pioneer and long-time Bears coach George Halas and running back Walter Payton were revealed Tuesday outside Soldier Field on Chicago's lakefront.
Both Halas, who died in 1983, and Payton, who died in 1999, are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Speakers at Tuesday's statue ceremony included Virginia McCaskey, Halas' daughter, Payton's children, Jarrett and Brittney, and Bears Super Bowl-winning coach Mike Ditka.
The Chicago Bears will kick off the league's 100th season Thursday night at home against the rival Green Bay Packers.
