The Economic crisis in Lebanon could be a case study of things to come.

As Lebanon’s currency lost up to 90% of its value since 2019, the savings of its citizens were wiped out overnight. An increasing number of people are living below the poverty line as the prices of food, fuel and medicine has since become unaffordable, with long queues for basic goods and power cuts throughout the day.

The lack of trust in the government and the nation’s financial institutions has led to anarchy on the streets and a breakdown of law and order. Armed sectarian gangs have now been taking a foothold in the country, leading to a growing level of violence in everyday life.
