(24 Oct 2014) French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius met with the US envoy coordinating the global fight against Islamic State militants in Paris on Friday.
Retired US Marine General John Allen is on a tour of Britain, France and the Middle East to meet with allies.
Allen expressed his country's gratitude to France for its contribution to the coalition and for hosting a meeting to discuss ways of dealing with Islamist extremists in September.
Allen is travelling with fellow coalition envoy, Ambassador Brett McGurk.
There were no immediate plans for them to go to Turkey.
Turkey has not allowed the US and its allies to use its airspace or air bases to strike inside Syria.
