Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit launched a sharp attack on AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday, calling him "unfit" to hold the Chief Minister's post in Delhi, citing Supreme Court restrictions.
Dikshit stated, "They can project anyone as the CM face, but first, Kejriwal needs to win as an MLA. He won’t even win from New Delhi. Even if he does, AAP will lose the election. Kejriwal is on bail, and the Supreme Court has made it clear — he cannot sign files, take decisions, chair official meetings, or even visit the office. Then how can he possibly function as Chief Minister?”
He added, "If Kejriwal violates his bail conditions, he risks going back to jail. He once tried to create a system where he avoided signing files to shield himself, but now every decision requires the CM’s signature. This restriction alone disqualifies him from leading the government."
Dikshit, who has been announced as Congress’s candidate for the New Delhi constituency, is the son of three-time Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. He emphasised that Kejriwal’s inability to perform basic administrative duties makes his candidacy untenable.
Meanwhile, AAP continues to push Arvind Kejriwal as its Chief Ministerial face for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. On the other hand, BJP’s former MP Parvesh Verma has claimed he has been asked to prepare to contest from the New Delhi seat.
The political battleground in Delhi is heating up as Congress, BJP, and AAP gear up for a high-stakes electoral fight.
