Don't try wake surfing without watching this first! I'm going to teach you everything you need to know to stand up, find your balance, get on the wave, and drop that rope!
FIRST STEP:
You have to prep for success. Make sure you have a beginner-friendly board with lots of volume and good fins. And of course, a good boat that can create a good wave.
Here are some things you will need to set yourself up:
Board: [ Ссылка ]
Fins: [ Ссылка ]
Tow Rope: [ Ссылка ]
Put on a life vest. Not just for safety but this will help you keep your head out of the water and stay afloat as you are setting up.
SECOND STEP:
Once you're in the water make sure to put your heels on the side of the board closest to your body. (Sides of the boards are also called rails).
Keep your toes pointed up
Keep those arms straight and knees bent.
THIRD STEP:
Once the boat starts to pull you let the board flip up to your feet. KEEP THOSE ARMS STRAIGHT AND KNEES BENT! You should feel like you're in a squat position. Let the boat do all the work!
FOUTH STEP:
Once the board is flat against the water and you are standing in a bent-knee position, let the board rotate to have the nose of the board facing the boat. Don't try to force this. the fins of the board will do this work for you.
Once that has happened, drop your back hand from the rope and face your front side hip towards the back of the boat.
Start to creep your feet to the opposite rail you started on (The toe side rail) This will help you stay in the wave and find a good balance point.
FIFTH STEP:
Turn heelside by applying light pressure and looking where you want to go in order to get outside the center wake of the boat. Once the wave is in front of you then start to turn into that wave and find the pocket (The point in the wave that will carry you without assistance from the rope).
SIXTH STEP:
Find that pocket and keep the rope slack. use your back foot for a brake in case you get too close to the boat and use your front foot and arm as the gas in case you start to fall behind the wave. Once you are balanced and in the pocket throw that rope to someone in the boat or to the other side of the wave to avoid getting tangled.
