Today on What’s Growing Episode #4, I am showing you an easy way to get those cantaloupe vines up off the ground! I am using a cattle panel and a garden fence u-post. My cantaloupe vines were starting to spread out all over the place and get tangled with one another in the garden bed. I dedicated to move them vertically! Here’s the process of how I did it!

This was a SUPER easy project, the U-post makes it easy! Let me know if you keep your cantaloupes on the ground or grow them vertically!
Hoping for a great harvest of cantaloupes this summer. Thanks for watching!

Here’s a full list of all that I have planted in 2020:
For my front yard garden, my goal was to encourage pollinators to my yard! We had so much grass in the front yard I decided to make a large garden bed in a really sunny spot! The plants that I have planted in my front garden bed are:
- Cantaloupes! I am experimenting to see how 2 of them grow vertically up a hot wire trellis that I made. The rest of the cantaloupe plants I left on the ground to grow horizontally. We’ll see which ones grow better!
- Watermelon! My watermelon plant isn’t too happy but hopefully it will perk up soon!
- Sweet potatoes! The sweet potato vines are growing up the teepee trellis that I made and it looks so pretty.
- Sunflowers! I planted quite a few sunflowers up in the front garden and I can’t wait til they bloom!
- Tomatoes! Minibell tomoto and black vernissage tomato. The tomatoes in the front garden are not very happy so we will see what happens with them.
- Zinnias to attract pollinators like bees and butterflies!
- Lavender! Maybe someday I’ll make my own essential oil haha.
- Lantana flower, this one is supposed to be really great through hot seasons like the hot Austin Texas summer!
In my side garden there’s a few more plants that are doing really well. The plants on the side garden get a lot of sun!
- Tomatoes! The tomato plant on the side yard is doing super good and growing like crazy!
- Cucumbers! It has a bunch of small cucumber buds coming in, maybe I’ll get those cucumbers for making pickles after all!
- Jalapeño peppers! A must for my Austin, Texas kitchen!
- Sweet potatoes growing on the teepee trellis!
- Sunflowers that are looking really great and already starting to bud!
- Elderberry plant! There are elderberries on it already, I’m hoping to get enough elderberries to make my own elderberry syrup for immune support this year!
- Strawberries! I think these may be wrapping up for the year.
- Blue agave plant that I have not decided where to put yet!
- Silver coin Eucalyptus plant! I forgot to mention this one but it is new, I’m excited to be able to cut it off for some fresh smelling eucalyptus in the house!
Sweet Corn - these have some sprouts already coming up!
Summer Squash, I am doing a later summer garden and decided to plant more of these!
Blue Lake Bush Beans, heard these grow well in Texas Summer
Okra is also another that I heard would grow well in a Texas Summer Garden
Pumpkins! Hoping to have some large jack o’ lantern pumpkins for the fall!
What are some plants you are growing in your garden now?
