Charles Wiles takes a close look at the 2016 Nissan Sentra. Nissan has given the 2016 Sentra a mid-model facelift. The 2016 Sentra has the same basic orientation as the 2015 version but with a whole new front fascia, different taillights, and wheel design. For the 2016 Sentra, Nissan has opted for the wing-swept design for their headlights, a signature look that is also present on the Nissan Altima, Maxima and the Murano. The front grille is a little more aggressive and the air dam is positioned lower in the fascia. The fog lamp design is a little bit different as well. Its taillights also differ from the previous body styles by going all red with a single clear stripe in the center. The rear fascia is lower and more aggressive looking.
The first thing you'll notice inside the 2016 Nissan Sentra is the completely different looking steering wheel. Nissan went for a steering wheel that looks sportier and feels more comfortable. It is the same steering wheel design you'll see on the Nissan Juke. Familiar features such as the steering wheel-mounted cruise controls, handsfree Bluetooth, and the integrated information center positioned between the gauges are still present. The center console's material and design are a little more polished and shiny and the gear shift knob now has some chrome accents added to it. Also new for 2016 is that you can now have heated seats for your Sentra. You can also add a navigation system and a backup camera.
Under the hood of the Sentra is the familiar Nissan's 1.8-Liter 4-Cylinder engine which can give you a fuel economy of 38 mpg highway. Also present is Nissan's patented CVT Transmission which translates to a seamless driving experience. The 2016 Nissan Sentra belongs to the market of compact vehicles, but what's great about it is that it's not too small. It provides plenty of leg room, head room, and shoulder room.
If you're looking for a cost-effective family vehicle with good fuel economy, the 2016 Sentra might just be the perfect one for you.
