Ingredients:
Squid / koonthal- 500 gm
Oil-2 tbsp
Onion sliced-2 large
Tomato-1 large
Thinly chopped garlic-1 tsp
Thinly chopped ginger-1 tsp
Green chilly split-3
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Chilly powder-1 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tsp
Garam masala-3/4 tsp
Salt-to taste
Curry leaves-3 springs
Tamarind- half of a lemon sized ball
Preparation:
Soak tamarind in 1/4 cup of hot water; extract the juice and keep it aside.
Heat a pan with oil. add sliced onions and saute until nice golden in color.
Add chopped ginger, garlic and green chilly; saute a minute.
Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilly powder and garam masala; mix well.
Add chopped tomato and saute until mashed well.
Add cleaned squid, salt and curry leaves; mix well.
Add tamarind extract and mix well.
Cover the lid and cook for about 6-8 minutes until the squids are cooked nicely.
Open it and cook for another few minutes until the gravy get's dried and nicely coated with the squid.
Serve in side with steamed rice, paratha or roti.
