The last 2 hour, 40 minutes of All Nippon Airways flight NH 6 from Narita Tokyo to Los Angeles -- the only time there was daylight on this flight. Shot from seat 2A on aircraft Boeing 777-300ER (77W). Special thanks to the wonderful crew who entertained my video test.
NH 5 LAX - NRT was dark all the way through so no go.
Setup:
Sony FDR-X3000 Action Camera - [ Ссылка ]
Set to Time Lapse mode. Every 10 seconds to ∞ (infinity).
** No longer using ** Joby Gorillapod with Ball Head and Level - [ Ссылка ] -- The Gorillapod joints wore out and can't even support the Sony now. Got an even better and less pricey replacement:
ATMO Flexible Mini Tripod - [ Ссылка ] or [ Ссылка ]
You never know if there's a vent by the window or stepped side console so a bendy tripod or suction mount (info below) is useful. Adjust your tripod to get the camera close against window so it will be easier to cover the whole setup and entire window (or else you will get reflection from the cabin). Lower the shade and cover any light gaps with a blanket, scarf, sweater, etc.
More Tips:
.Turn off the front recording indicator light or it might be reflected by the window and captured in the recording.
.Turn on airplane mode.
.Check the camera every now and then to see if it's still on. See if you can find a reliable charge or be ready to swap batteries [ Ссылка ]
.If cabin crew won't allow of filming and/or suction mounts on windows, kindly put away your cam.
If your window seat does not have a console to stage a tripod, try the Delkin Fat Gecko mount [ Ссылка ] The suction cups are strong enough to keep the camera on top of a fast-moving car! The Fat Gecko Single is plenty for this purpose. I got the Double for a little bit more peace of mind when mounting it outside my car.
