Opposition Fighters Kidnapped
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says Al Nusra Front has captured at least five more US-trained opposition fighters in overnight raids on a village in northwestern Syria. It’s the second such capture by the group since last week. In the first move of its kind, the US said on Monday it will allow air strikes to defend Syrian opposition fighters that its military is training.
Malema Corruption Case Dismissed
A South African court has dismissed a corruption case against Julius Malema and 4 business associates. Malema is the leader of the opposition Economic Freedom Fighters and a former leader of the ANC youth wing. He was accused of receiving $400 thousand dollars through corrupt road construction projects. The judge said he was dismissing the case as it had been postponed so many times.
Report Over Death of Palestinian Baby
The Palestinian Authority has filed a formal report with the International Criminal Court at The Hague over the death of an 18-month-old boy. The report handed to ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda was entitled “Jewish Settler Terrorism”. Ali Saeed Dawabsheh was burned to death when Jewish settlers torched his family home in a village near the West Bank city of Nablus on Friday.
13,000 People to Evacuate
California firefighters have ordered 13,000 people to evacuate. About 9,000 firefighters are trying to contain 20 wildfires that have spread across the state since Sunday.The biggest - named Rocky Fire - is reported to have razed more than 90 square miles of land. At least 24 homes have been destroyed.
