This is the story of how I replicated the 7th Doctor's TARDIS door key prop by making a mould of a screen used original.

I cast out my own duplicates that were 100% faithful to the real deal and were made to the exact same specification that Mike Tucker used when he made the originals back in 1988 for BBC Television's "Doctor Who" series.

I made a mould (mold) from silicone rubber and cast into this a polyurethane resin that I then cleaned up, added hand laid detail to the rear side, then gave it a faux metallic finish with grate polish and topped it off with a bit of subtle weathering and an identical chain.

As a bonus and a nice bit of additional information, I even made one of these keys for life long fan - and 12th Doctor, PETER CAPALDI - and he loved it!
