Palestinian factions in Gaza and Israeli warplanes have exchanged fire Thursday in the biggest escalation in months. It comes after weeks of deadly violence focused on Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem. On Friday morning, 27 people were injured when clashes erupted between Palestinians and Israeli security forces at the Al Aqsa compound; that's according to the Palestinian Red Crescent. Israeli forces fired stun grenades and rubber-coated steel bullets at Palestinians, ahead of Friday Prayers. Many Muslim worshippers have heeded a call for mobilization in defense of Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque.
