I said in a recent video that dennis rodman to me is the best rebounder of time. despite the fact that players like wilt chaimberlain averaged more rebounds
per game, if we take into consideration that rodman was only 6"7 and still had seasons where he averaged 18 rebounds per game, this is just crazy.
I mean in todays game, show me a player that can average 18 rebounds per game? And especially on the offensiv board rodman was a beast.
The combination of perfect positioning, a feel for where the ball is and techniq was dennis specialty.
He would have more than 10 season where he avg more than 11 rebounds per game. And another thing that i have to add is, that dennis was also the master of the outlet pass. He grabbed the rebound, and made a pretty long pass to the other side of the floor for an easy basket.

The hustle plays. Now if you are a baller you know that not every player is willing to hustle after every looseball. Despite willing to sacrifise their body.
The only other player but dennis rodman that was willingly throwing themselves on the floor on a regular basis was larry bird.
Dennis kept the ball alive, even though it looked like he did not stand a chance. And we didnt talk about the energy that dennis gave his teammates

that rodman was one of the toughest match ups they ever had. especially in his detroit pistons days rodman was at his peak defensivly. thats why he also won the defensiv player of the year 2 times in a row.

now with dennis rodman you knew what you would get defensivly and on the boards. but another thing that sometimes could be an advantage was
that dennis would do amazing things out of the blue.
Many people forget that he was a potent scorer in his prime years with the bad boy pistons. he had a solid mid range shot and of course would get many tip in oppurtunitys. But when he realised that scoring was not was his teams needed from him. but still every now and then rodman would do something crazy in a positive way. ran a nice break, make a nice fade a way jumper or shoot a nice 3 pointer. and in some games, he would do even more

A quality that in todays game kind of got lost, is the physical and mental toughness.
Rodman would never back down from any player, from any challenge and always stand his ground.
in an area where rodman had to play barkley, malone, ewing, shaq, mourning,olajuwon etc, he was always strong enough to make sure that they would have to play
their best basketball in order to win the game.
If you talk to rodmans teammates they would all tell you that rodman work out before practice, after practice, and before and after games.
this kind of work ethic was out of this world.

talking about toughess, another thing that rodman was the master in, was the mental games.
in case you did not know rodman was one of the smartest players you would ever see on the basketball court.
all the antics, all the crazy talk, everything he did, was planed. he was able to get players out of their game.
and he did it with all the super stars. if it was scottie pippen, iverson, stackhouse, shaq, rodman just knew how to get under your skin.
and this way, he would get you out of your game.
