Aerial drone video captured by NYS Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation of a type of requiem shark species feeding on a large school of Atlantic menhaden, also known as a ‘bunker pod’. Spinner, dusky, Atlantic blacktip and sandbar sharks are all different species of requiem sharks found in New York. Requiem sharks are one of the largest grouping of sharks and are in the family Carcharhinidae. They are strong active swimmers with slender torpedo-shaped bodies with rounded snouts. They may be gray to brown and usually have light-colored undersides.
