South African Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has been sentenced to six years in prison for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp three years ago. Pistorius has always maintained that the killing was accidental and that he shot Steenkamp dead through the door of his bedroom toilet, mistaking her for a burglar.
Judge Thokozile Masipe said she considered Pistorius's fall from grace before handing down her sentence.
