Bought a new 2024 Civic Type R about a month ago, brought it out to Buttonwillow to give it a initial feeler while the car is still stock. Did my best lap of the day first session while I was still learning how to drive it, this was lap 4 after getting through some traffic to find 1 clear lap... 2nd session was a wash, safety crew were towing a car almost the whole session and 3rd session the track was SO much slower... Took some getting used to with a turbo engine, can't drive it the same and stab at the throttle like my NA cars or else it falls out of boost on exit, was interesting learning what the car wanted. Feel like if I could take my next session's worth of learning and apply it to the first session's track conditions I could have taken it sub 2. But oh well....
Pretty impressed at this level of performance from a stock car, my only complaints is the typical "suspension is way too overdamped and bouncy" and the diff didn't feel as good as people raved it to be, the car has a lot of wheelspin and power understeer. But I will hold off on judgement until the car gets good tires, as I suspect better tires will help put the power down a lot better. I also ran the car in Individual Mode with Comfort suspension and the "pedal dance" to disable TC & VSA, so there's that.
Stock FL5 CTR, stock Michelin 4s tires, just Castrol SRF fluid & PMU ClubRacer front pads.
