The board represents our life. The nails symbolize our sins. God removes our sins when we repent. God sees our repentance & reconciliation through the work of Jesus Christ as if we had never sinned. Our vertical relationship with God is perfectly redeemed.
However the consequences of our sins still leave holes/scars effect us and others. Our reputation and degree of trustworthiness will effect our horizontal relationships with others. The damage we inflicted or received as a result of not adhering to God's Best Plan are blessings lost it not beyond God's ability to redeem
Still God says He will work ALL THINGS together for good .... And He will bring beauty from ashes.
