Congress leaders including former Chief Minister of Karnataka K Siddaramaiah and KPCC president D K Shivakumar cycled to the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru to attend the state legislature session. The move was part of continuing protests in the state over the rise in prices of fuel, LPG and essential items.
The first week of the legislature session was marked by a long discussion on price rise. Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai is expected to respond to the discussion in the legislature this week.
Last week, the leaders had come in bullock-carts and as they tried to enter the Vidhana Soudha, police prevented them. A brief war of words was exchanged between Siddaramaiah and the police as cops prevented carts inside Vidhana Soudha. After the protest, only one cart was allowed.
MLAs Dinesh Gundu Rao, NA Harris, MLC Govindaraju, UB Venkatesh, ex-minister SR Patil and many others took part in the bicycle rally today.
