Deputy President Paul Mashatile has been made aware of an incident involving the alleged assault of civilians by members attached to his protection unit.
Mashatile has appealed to the public to allow the SAPS the necessary space to complete its investigation into the incident and take whatever corrective action is deemed necessary.
The National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola, has also come out strongy against the incident and has reassured a thorough investigation and articulated the conduct expected of police officers.
